Besides being a visual artist, I earned my Master in Fine Art in Curatorial Practice from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA, 2015 ). I owe my sign painting career to my time at MICA. During graduate school I was required to choose a subject for my graduate thesis with the stipulation that I collaborated with a community partner to develop and install an exhibition. In partnership with the Baltimore Museum of Industry I curated, researched, designed fundraised, installed the exhibit NOT YET LOST! The Art of Maryland Sign Painters.

Through my research I found my tribe with the Walldogs, a group of highly skilled sign painters and muralists. In 2018 I was encouraged to pick up a brush and try my hand at the art. It was my moment in which I said, “This is what I need to do. This is what I need to pursue.” In 2019 I took the leap and started Human Made Signs & Murals. Fast forward to February 2022 when I met my now husband, Tyler, who over the next three years supported me with the business until he also made the leap and left his career to join Human Made Signs & Murals as our project and sales manager, and also as a Walldog.
